Restaurant Week 2013

restaurant

Every November foodies in Jamaica look forward to Restaurant week. Since 2004, Restaurateurs across the island have been pulling out all the stops to wow new and repeat patrons, by showcasing their best cuisines at affordable prices. November 8-16 will see over 75 Restaurants in Kingston , Montego Bay and Ocho Rios offering 3 course menus at fixed and affordable prices.

The participating restaurants are placed in five different categories , Tasty , Savory, Delectable, Epicurean and Nyam & Scram. Each attracting a different price except for Nyam & Scram which offers a general 30% discount and lunch combos.

My favorite thing about Restaurant Week is being able to view the menus before online. I normally choose where I will dine based on a number of factors, firstly my budget and then by my favorite menu within that budget. I also use it as an opportunity to try a place that I had never eaten before , as well as to have a great night out with friends.

raise

This year’s theme is Raise a Fork and Lift the City, as organizers of the event will give aid to City Life Ministries and their community outreach projects. What could be better than dining out and supporting a good cause? Restaurants can get overbooked , so it is best to make your reservations as soon as possible. If you are in Jamaica or will be visiting during that time, it is your perfect chance to experience the flavors and culinary delights of the island. Bon Apetite !

It is. I forgot to mention that the prices are Jamaican dollars so foreigners don’t get a heart attack when they see $4000 for dinner. That’s less than US$40.

Awesome. I will have a friend here then so maybe I should look into a night in Kingston – especially if that incredible cake is on the menu!!
