ABOUT

Falmouth Cruise Ship Pier Jamaica

Hi, I’m Janeen, the writer, photographer, and adventurer behind The Dryland Tourist. Jamaicans use the term Dryland Tourist ( Drylan’ Touris’ ) to describe a person who acts like a foreigner in their own country. Sometimes it’s the way you dress or if you’re always up to some excitement. I’m that friend that appears to always be on vacation even though I’m working, most of the time. The truth is when I’m not on vacation I am planning my next one!
I’m also that friend that everyone calls when they have no idea of where to go or what to do. When I started this blog back in 2013, it was a way to share my trips with my family and friends. It was also so I didn’t have to keep repeating the same information. I had no grand dreams of becoming a blogger, I still don’t.

Along the way, something greater happened! I discovered a passion for writing and seeing my name in print. Fast Forward to 2019, I’m a published Travel Writer specializing in Destination Jamaica.

A lot has changed in the travel and blogging space since I wrote my first blog post. One thing that has remained the same is that I’m still that friend who you call when you’re planning a trip. My work has taken me to some of the most beautiful locations across the island and I plan to share more with you.

The Dryland Tourist seeks to inspire you to explore Jamaica and to help you plan your next vacation. Who better to answer your questions about Jamaica than a well-traveled local? Join me as I share my adventures, favorite places, music, hotels, food, events, and unbiased views. Experience my Jamaica!
Now that you’ve learned a little about me, let’s be friends on Instagram, Facebook, and Tik Tok
