ThrowBack Thursdays: Jamaica’s Voice

I’m in a Music mood can you tell ? With the epic performance that Jamaica’s own songstress Tessanne Chin delivered last night on the American talent show The Voice , it’s no surprise that today’s Throwback Thursdays is giving a shout out to her.
Even in this day and age people are of the silly belief that Jamaicans are all black or Rastafarians, our motto is “Out of Many One People”. Tessanne is Chinese Jamaican and a hold nation swelled with pride not only when she sang but when she said singing was her bread and butta (no er necessary).
While many have made negative comments that she is already an established singer , I applaud her guts to enter this competition. She could easily be satisfied with a thriving career as one of Jamaican’s top songstress and maybe biggest voice ever . She has even judged a local talent show so for her to put aside her “celebrity persona” and put herself in a position to be critiqued and be just like someone just starting in the game , it is no easy task. Whether or not she wins , this competition has provided a wider platform and opened opportunities that she could have never dreamed of getting in Jamaica alone.
Jamaica’s music and talent is much greater than Bob Marley and this girl right here proves that. An old favorite of mine and thousands of Jamaicans which will soon become a favorite of millions around the world. Enjoy!
